Program Overview:
The Wormery Experience Workshops
Learn the concepts of food circularity: from organic waste, to composting, and back to food.
Offered as an

to our site, or as an
in-class workshop

2-2.5 hours
In-class Engagement:
Offered to schools in the TVDSB and LCDSB (London-Middlesex region)
~100 minutes (or approx. 1 period block)
Circular Food Framework
Students will be guided through our circular model for food and organic waste recovery.
From food production, the science of waste, methods of composting, soil health and growing food.
At our site within the Grove agri-food business hub, students will be able to connect concepts to operational-scale systems and practices.
Key Learning Concepts
Through a staged breakdown and variety of activities and teaching styles, students will learn:
Functions of "The Wormery" composting facility
Basic chemistry and biology of composting
Fundamentals of soil and planting
Introduction to fungi and mushroom growing
Hands-On Activities
Throughout the experience, students can get their hands dirty with composting tasks and games (PPE provided):
Composting Simulation
Worm hunt & Measurement taking
Compost-soil blending and planting
Knowledge-based matching games, scavenger hunts and more.

Teachers will have the option to add one of our Classroom Learning Kits to continue topic engagement at school:

We are seeking collaborative class and groups to pilot our SHSM programming expanding on our K-8 circularity workshops.
Program pricing is stated as a trial requirements and may be subject to change throughout trials along with program timing and activities.

Go through stages of business ideation with problem identification, data collection and the design method. Develop a sustainable mission.
Stream B:
Creating a business model framework, sustainable operations, supply-chains and feasibility. Assess market and competitive landscape.

NOTES:
On-site trips are conducted from a target window of
10am to 1pm
- however are flexible to accommodate transportation timing.
For in-class programming, priority will be given to schools with multiple class sign-ups in one day (up to 3 period block sessions).
Subsidies may be available for school trips from TVDSB and LCDSB and community sponsors.
